Echoes Still Singing Limbs :: Montreal, Quebec

Friday, February 27, 2009 : Doors 8:00pm

At Radio Bean, Burlington, Vermont

ECHOES STILL SINGING LIMBS  are a really great band out of Montreal featuring Nick Kuepfer (ex AIDS WOLF), Nader Hasan, Kristina Koropecki, Aidan Jeffery and sometimes Ian Llavsky and Nathan Ward.

The show should start right about 8pm and they have close to an hour set if not a wee bit longer.

Having emerged from a solo recording of 18 works in an audio exploratory of acoustic soundscapes and live sampling, Echoes Still Singing Limbs (Echoes) spontaneously formed as an ensemble with both the efforts of re-producing selected recorded material in a live setting and exploring new territory with the contributions and influences of the now key members. With the backgrounds of the individual players ranging from a trained Operatic vocalist, a classically trained cellist, avant garde and noise guitarists/instrumentalists and a percussionist, Echoes sees a future in an incredibly eclectic classical experimentation.

experimental non-conventional folk.

Conceptually the project has inadvertently taken elements from many areas with a focus on non-conventional folk and including the percussive and melodic ideas of the Middle-East, Asia and Africa combined with the guitar techniques and finger style of the south and central Americas, the Indian sounds of the harmonium, the approaches of Opera singing and the classical elements and textural subtleties of the cello. Sometimes sweet, sad and beautiful while at other times loud, cacophonous and freewheeling, Echoes pushes the boundaries of folk music to an unprecedented degree.
